Freshmen & New Member Orientation:
On
behalf of our Ballard High School Band students and parents, you are
cordially invited to attend a special informational meeting for all
prospective band students and their parents. We look forward
to meeting with you in the band room to share and discuss the great and
exciting experiences we have planned for you in 2009-2010 and beyond.
Be prepared to hear about the many wonderful performance opportunities
offered at Ballard, like Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony,
Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Marching Band, Color Guard Flags,
Solo and Ensemble, All-County Band, All-State Band, Spring Trips and
much more.
We'll have several outstanding student leaders and parents on hand to
answer any questions you may have about your possible involvement in
the Ballard Band. Be prepared to meet lots of new people,
have a great time, and learn about the many amazing opportunities we
have in store for you next year.
The Orientation meetings are scheduled for the following dates:

An
informal meeting setting where there will be a presentation about what
exciting opportunities will be afforded to students next year.
Students and parents will have the opportunity to ask any
questions you may have and meet parents and students currently in
the program. Refreshments
provided.
After the brief informational meeting, join us for a great
evening of big band jazz classics such as 'In the Mood,' 'Angel Eyes,'
'Little Brown Jug,' 'Sing, Sing, Sing,' and more as the Ballard High
School Jazz Band goes "head to head" with the Eastern High School Jazz
Band in our first annual "Battle of the Big Bands." |

This
is another special event where, after the meeting is over, students and parents
will get the opportunity to attend the SPRING CONCERT in the Sandy Allen Fine
Arts Center. Refreshments will be provided at this meeting.
There will be performances by the Ballard High School Wind Symphony,
Concert Band and Symphonic Band. If you want to see the type of setting
students will be playing in next year, here is a perfect opportunity! |

This
is a special event where, following the meeting, students and paretns will get
the opportunity to attend the jazz band and percussion ensemble's "MONSTERS
OF ROCK: FUNK INFECTION" concert in the Sandy Allen Fine Arts Center
here on campus. Refreshments will be provided at this meeting.
Come for the informational meeting and stay for the groove assassination
by the Ballard High School Percussion Ensemble and "De Las Calles of
Ballard High." This is the last opportunity to meet with the band
directors, parents and students and to ask any questions you may have before
our June 8-10 marching band music camp. |

can't wait for you to join us for a special orientation meeting on
any
of the above dates at Ballard. Only attending one of
the
meetings is necessary. You won't want to miss this!

Directions to
Ballard High School and Band Room: From I-64, go EAST
on Watterson Expressway (I-264). Proceed cast on the
Watterson Expressway to the Brownsboro Road Exit 22. Turn
right at the end of the exit ramp, and proceed to the intersection with
KY 22. Turn right onto KY 22 and proceed to its intersection
with Herr Lane. (You'll see the school on the corner of
Brownsboro Road and Herr Lane). Turn right onto Herr Lane by
the gas station. Next, turn left into the school driveway.
The band room is located behind door #30,
upstairs, in room E252. Please call the band room @485-8964
if you need additional assistance.

WHAT:
The BHS colorguard is
growing & is in need of your help.
If you want to make new friends & learn to dance & spin
flags this is for you.
WHERE: In the BHS band room.
WEAR: Gym clothes or anything you can comfortably move in (NO
jeans please!)
WHEN:
Training sessions are May 18, 19, 20, & 21 from 3-5 pm
with
membership
decisions made at the end of the May 21st training session.

The Ballard High School percussion section is looking for new
recruits
to join the band in 2009-10. If you like to play great music,
meet
people, & learn from the best of the best we have a place for
you.
WHERE: In the BHS Band Room
GEAR: Bring sticks and mallets if you have them.
WHEN: Training is on May 19, 20, 26, & 27 from 3-5 pm
with membership decisions made at the end of the May 27th session.
