Ballard Band Nation!

Welcome back!  Mr. Matheney and I hope you have all had a restful and enjoyable summer with your friends and families.  This is just a reminder that the first week of band camp starts tomorrow, July 20th.  We are expecting our largest marching band in school history this season and are extremely excited to get started back with everyone.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW:

·         Always look for a weekly email from myself or Mr. Matheney.

·         This week: Winds 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

·         This week: Color Guard and Percussion 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

·         Early is on time and on time is late.  We live by this motto, so please always be at least 15 minutes early to every event/rehearsal.  We will be checking in many people tomorrow, you will want to be early.  While we start at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow, I would recommend an 8:30 a.m. arrival.

·         The booster group will be set up to accept forms, payments, and distribute polo shirts on Monday morning.  After that, kids can start putting payments in the band fee box located in the band room.

·         If you are a percussion or color guard member do not forget to bring lunch this week.

PLEASE BRING:

1.  COMPLETED **MEDICAL FORMS** THAT HAVE BEEN **NOTARIZED** WITH A COPY OF THE **FRONT AND BACK** OF THE PARTICIPANT'S **INSURANCE CARD** TAPED TO THE BACK OF THE FORM.

*If your insurance is military, Passport, etc. we still need a copy of the front and back of the card attached to the completed medical form.

*If you self-pay your medical bills, please write "self-pay" on the line that says "Insurance Policy and Number."

*Even though the numbers are written on the front of the form, if your child is having a medical emergency, we have found that it streamlines the process with the people who enter information if a copy of the card is attached.

**THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!**  Your efforts are very much appreciated!! :)

2.  The forms from the packet you received earlier this year.  *Some of these need to be notarized* so check carefully before they are turned in.

*If you have not received this packet of forms yet, we will have them available on the first day of band camp.

MARCHERS:

1.  Bring big water bottles/2 qt bottles and lunch.  Gatorade is a great idea!  Make sure lunches include good food:  Protein, carbs, and LOW SUGAR items.  Sugar is not a marcher's friend!  Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate before arrival to make the day start right.  If you feel thirsty,  your body is already very low on its necessary liquids.

2.  Wear light colored, wide brimmed hats.  Also, wear ATHLETIC shoes with a lot of support and LIGHT COLORED clothing.  Wear SUNSCREEN and reapply frequently.  There is no excuse to have a sunburn.

3. Your instrument and any accessories you need to ensure its proper usage (valve oil, reeds, etc.)

If you ordered SHIRTS at the info meeting in June, they have been delivered. :) YAY!  If you paid for your shirt it will be available during band camp.  If you needed to postpone payment, now is the time.  Please send/bring cash, check, or money order for $25 for each shirt ordered.

See you tomorrow,

Mr. Shepherd
