2015/16 Ballard Band READ ME! (including Band Handbook)

posted Jun 2, 2015, 11:12 AM by Ballard Band

Good Morning!

This is a reminder about our Kick-off meeting on Thursday, June 4th at 6:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center.  All new and returning members should be in attendance.

Attached you will find the 2015-16 version of the Ballard Band handbook.  Please take time to familiarize yourself with all of our policies and procedures.  You will notice that different forms need to be filled out based upon the groups in which your child participates.  Several forms need to be turned back into us, but even more importantly, they are legal documents so they will need to be notarized by a notary public before returning them to us (this can be done free of charge in any of the Ballard offices).

In the handbook you will find information regarding fees.  These fees cover the entire 2015-16 school year.  I would also like to add that band is not an exclusive activity and we work very hard to make accommodations for ALL that want to participate.  Do not let money be something that prevents your child from participating in any of our groups.  We have a couple of different payment options and if that doesn’t work for you and your family please come talk to Mr. Matheney or myself and we will figure it out with you!  In my twelve years of teaching, I have never turned a child away due to money.  If you want a music education, come and get one of the best in the region!

Prospective Marching Band Members

Incoming freshmen and parents of incoming freshmen, I cannot begin to tell you what a valuable experience marching band camp is for your child.  This allows your child to find a positive and supportive environment well before the school year starts.  Members of the Ballard High School Marching Band are among the highest achieving and most well rounded students at BHS.  The student population in the band varies from varsity athletes to members of the academic team and other various academic organizations.  Your children are in good company and will build life-long friendships over the next four years in the BHS Band. I look forward to watching them grow as young people and musicians.  Please go to and click on the charms calendar button to see our calendar of events and camp schedule.

Please feel free to contact Mr. Matheney or myself if you have any questions about our program.
