2006 Marching Band Competitions

Congratulations Ballard High School Marching Band! The BHS Band had an outstanding performance not once but twice this past Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Mid-States Band Association Championships Class AA held at Beavercreek High School, in Dayton, Ohio. Their prestigeous performance, hard work, dedication, and team work earned them in the Preliminary Awards of OUTSTANDING Auxiliary, Music, Visual, General Effect, and First Place Finish. After a short break, the BHS Band went above and beyond their expections with the best performance this year, and earning awards in the Final Competition of the night with OUTSTANDING, Auxiliary, Music, Visual, General Effect, Percussion, and the 2006 Grand Champions of MSBA.

TO THE MEMBERS OF BALLARD BAND -- We are so proud of you! You're are the Best of the Best! Thank you for your outstanding performance and dedication to this fine Program, and thanks to Mr. Charles Stewart and his staff for an excellent program provided to our students. Way to Go, Bruin Band!

Congratulations to the members of the Ballard High School Marching Band for an outstanding performance at the MSBA Band Contest held at Colerain High School in Cincinatti, Ohio. Their performance earned them Best Drum Major, Best Overall Percussion, Best Overall Music, Best Overall Visual, & Best Overall Effect. In addition to this, the band finished 1st in Class AA, earned yet another distinguished rating for the season, and took home the prestigious OVERALL GRAND CHAMPION award. BALLARD BAND--YOU WERE AWESOME! WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION!

Congratulations to the members of the Ballard High School Marching Band for two outstanding performances at the Boone County “Rebel Classic” Band Contest in Florence, Kentucky on Saturday. Their prelims performance earned them a 3rd place finish in class 5A, a distinguished rating, and top honors for Best Color Guard in the show. In open class finals competition, amidst very tough competition, the Ballard Band placed 5th overall, earned yet another distinguished rating, and placed 2nd overall in the category for Best Percussion. Congratulations goes out to the members of the Ballard High School Marching Band for their fine performance at the LaRue County Marching Band Contest in Hodgenville, Kentucky on Saturday, October 14, 2006. This performance earned the band a 1st Place finish in class 5A-2, awards for Best Percussion & Color Guard in class 5A-2. In addition to this, the band received RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION and DISTINGUISHED Rating. We are So Proud of You! Keep up the hard work...

Congratulations goes out to the members of the Ballard High School Marching Band for their fine performance at the 16th Annual West Carrollton Band Invitational in West Carrollton, Ohio on Saturday, September 16, 2006. This performance earned the band a 1st Place finish in Class AA. In addition to this, the band earned an impressive 2nd place finish overall in the whole competition among several bands from Ohio and Kentucky.

2006 Junior Winter Guard Competition

Congratulations to the members of the Ballard Jr. Winter Guard for their outstanding pagentry performance at the Tri-State Circuit Championships held on April 1, 2006 with their overall 3rd Place finish! Way to Go Girls!

Congratulations to the members of the Ballard High School Band for their exceptional performances at KMEA District 12 Concert Band Festival. Our two performing groups, the Wind Ensemble & the Symphonic Band, received straight Distinguished Ratings from each of the four judges and both earned an overall rating of Distinguished. Both groups have now earned the honor & privilege of performing at the State Concert Band Festival in May.

Congratulations to Sadie Biles, Miranda Melton, Kat Randall, & Katie Raynor for their excellent performance in the distinguished 2006 University of Louisville Invitational Honor Band. These students were selected to represent Ballard High School in various concert performance ensembles along with many other fine student musicians from around the state of Kentucky. These U of L Honor Band students are to be commended for an excellent job with learning, preparing, and performing quality music in just a matter of days. Congratulations on your outstanding achievement.

2005-06 All County/All State Ensembles

As you know, acceptance in the All-State bands is an extraordinary accomplishment and these students are to be commended for their outstanding musicianship. Also, very special thanks to each Ballard student that auditioned that day!

2005 Marching Band Competition

Congratulations goes out to the members of the Ballard High School Marching Band for their fine performance at the LaRue County Marching Band Contest in Hodgenville, Kentucky on Saturday, October 8. This performance earned the band a 1st Place finish in class 5A, awards for Best Percussion & Color Guard in class 5A, and yet another Distinguished Rating. In addition to this, the band also took top honors in the show for Best Overall Music, Best Overall Visual, & Best Overall Percussion, and the award for OVERALL GRAND CHAMPION.

 

Congratulations to the members of the Ballard High School Marching Band for two fine performances at the Lloyd Memorial "Music In Motion" Band Contest in Erlanger, Kentucky on Saturday. The first performance earned the band a 3rd place finish in class 5A prelims right behind Tates Creek & Milford. Later that night in the finals, the band put on an electrifying performance that earned them a distinguished rating and a 3rd place finish overall (just 6 tenths of a point away from 2nd place).

Special congratulations to all of the parents that came out to stand up and cheer for these fine students. Your presence and your support makes a world of difference to everyone involved!

Congratulations goes out to the members of the Ballard High School Marching Band for two fine performances at the Shelby County Showcase of Bands in Shelbyville, Kentucky on Saturday, September 10th.

The first performance in prelims earned the band a 4th place finish in class 5A competition and also a 6th place finish overall in the competition. Later that night in the finals, the band put on a very spirited performance and moved up another spot to finish 5th overall in the show.

Congratulations Bruin Band! You're off to another solid start!

2004-2005 KMEA All-State

2004 Competition Awards

2004 KMEA State Marching Band Championships were held October 16th at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Ballard Band earned a distinguished rating and placed 4th in the Semi-Finals which earned them a spot in the final competition. Ballard's Marching Band performance was spectacular which earned them 3rd place finish! You were awesome Ballard Band!

Congratulations to the members of the Ballard High School Marching Band for their outstanding performance at the 2004 KMEA Class AA East Regional on Saturday, October 9th. This performance earned them another distinguished rating, a 4th place finish overall, and a trip to the State Marching Band Championships in Western Kentucky University on Saturday, October 16, 2004.

13th Annual Louisville Classic Marching Band Contest held on Saturday, October 2, 2004, Louisville, Kentucky - Class AA-2 ----1st Place, Best Color Guard and Distinguished Rating. Your Awesome--Way to Go!

4th Annual Nelson County Band of Pride Pageant of Bands 2004 held on Saturday, September 18, 2004, Bardstown, Kentucky - Class AA Division ---- 2nd Place, Best Percussion and Best Visual Performance. Congratulations Ballard!

29th Annual Governor's Gold Cup Marching Band Contest held on Saturday, September 11, 2004, Elizabethtown, Kentucky - Class AA Division ---- 1st Place, Best Colorguard, Best Precussion, Best Music and Best Visual and 3rd Place Overall. Way to Go Ballard!

 

In 2003, the marching band received distinguished ratings at every show and earned awards for best percussion, best color guard, & overall grand champion at many contests during the regular season. The band ranked 2nd in the KMEA Class AAA Semifinals last year and set a new precedent by earning a 3rd place finish in the 2003 KMEA State Marching Band Championship Finals. Way to go, Ballard Band!
